ASUU suspends strike, directs lecturers to resume on Friday

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday, suspended its three months strike after it meeting with the federal government.

According to information released on Thursday night on the official twitter handle of the body @ASUUNGR, the body also asked academics activities to resume on Friday.

The tweet reads; “The NEC has decided that the STRIKE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED. Academic activities resume tomorrow.” #ASUUstrikehasbeensuspended.

Arising from two hour meeting with the union, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige revealed that agreement was reached by the federal government and the union on eight areas.

He expressed gratitude to the leadership of ASUU for their understanding with the government.
