The Ebonyi State Council of Traditional Rulers has adopted the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the February presidential election.
The adoption of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate comes barely 24 hours after the monarchs endorse President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Speaking at the Exco Chamber of PDP presidential candidate, the chairman of the council, Eze Charles Mkpuma said that the council would vote for PDP notwithstanding the fact that they have endorsed president Buhari.
Mkpuma assured that all candidates contesting under the platform of PDP will be voted overwhelming, adding that Ebonyi state is a PDP state.
“We humbly attribute the success achieved so far by our dear governor to your great party, the PDP.
“Accordingly, we wish to state unequivocally that our state, Ebonyi, is a PDP state and we shall overwhelmingly vote for all PDP candidates.
“Indeed, not less than 90 per cent of our votes, notwithstanding the fact that we had assured His Excellency, the President that he would get some votes in Ebonyi.”
