The House of Representatives on Tuesday, approved N30,000 as the new minimum wage for both federal and state workers.
Recall that the National Council of State (NCS) and State Governors had last week, approved N30,000 as the new minimum for federal workers and N27,000 for state workers.
Consequently, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) rejected the state minimum wage, stressing that the minimum wage for both federal and worker workers must be pegged to N30,000.
However, the federal lawmakers in the lower chamber counters the NCS and approved N30,000 after conducting public hearing on the new bill yesterday.
The house also approved a clause that would make the new bill operational from the date it would be assented to by the president.
Meanwhile, the house has adjourned plenary to February 19 because of the forthcoming elections.
