Otammiri River drowns FUTO student

The popular Otammiri River near the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), has once again drowned a student of the institution.

The victim, Chijioke Nwaogu, a 500 Level student in the Engineering Department, got drowned on Sunday, November 18.

It was gathered Chijioke had gone to the river with friends to cool off at the stream after he returned from his one year Industrial Training (IT) program.

Meanwhile, the river which is said to be about 600ft deep has reportedly taken many lives especially students of the institution.

It was reported that three students lost their lives in the stream some years back.

Although the management has warned students to avoid the river, some have continued to go their for fun.
