The Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce and Senator Dino Melaye have sued Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over alleges police assaults on them during protests.
Recall that the senators among others, had last week, protested at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (EFCC), in Abuja.
The protestants are demanding from the electoral body to declare the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adekeke, the winner of Osun guber election.
However, after the protest, the police invited Senator Ben Murray-Bruce and Senator Dino Melaye to appear before Federal Capital Police Command over alleged attack its men.
Rather than acknowledging the police invitation, the lawmakers sued the IGP and the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, demanding N500 million damages airing from “humiliation, intimidation, harassment, and unlawful attempt to arrest.”
