A High Court sitting in Owerri, on Tuesday, quashed the impeachment of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere.
The court cited that lawmakers followed did not follow due process in the impeachment process.
Hence, “Madumere still remains the deputy governor of the state,” declared the court.
Recall that on July 30, 19 out of 27 members of Imo State House of Assembly impeached the Deputy Governor.
The Speaker of the House, Acho Ihim, had said the impeachment followed the outcome of a report of a 7-man panel which was constituted by the Chief Judge of the state to investigate allegations of gross misconduct and abandonment of office by the Deputy Governor.
