No fewer than 52 cattle were on Sunday morning, crushed to death by moving train in Kaduna state.
According to reports, the herdsmen were heading to Katsina state when the incident occurred.
Confirming the report, the state commissioner of police, Malam Ahmad, said that the incident occurred at about 11:45am along Kasarami – Jere axis in Chikkun local government area, Kaduna state.
The commissioner said that the herdsmen actually inquired on whether there were rail service but were misinformed.
He added that no human casualty was recorded, noting that 27 other cattle that sustained injuries were slaughtered by the chief butcher of Kasarami village.
He further disclosed that he has summoned a peace meeting to be attended by the traditional rulers, youths and farmers in the area.
