Buhari’s Comment On Illegal Migrants Insensitive – Omokri

Reno Omokri, Former spokesperson to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan

Former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has taunts President Muhammadu Buhari over his comment on illegal migrants.

Buhari had on Friday, August 31, while fielding questions from journalists during a joint press briefing with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, disowned Nigerians who migrate illegally to Europe.

“I am against my country men and women finding their way illegally out of Nigeria. They feel that their is greener pasture there. We don’t support anything illegal or indiscipline.

“Anybody that does it or feels his country is not offering him the best and defile the desert is doing it at his risk,” Buhari declared.

However, in his reaction, Omokri stated that Buhari’s comment is insensitive. He maintained that people migrate out of frustration due to hardship in the country.

“Buhari’s comments on illegal migrants were insensitive. Many are not migrating because they want to. Some want to farm but herdsmen wont let them. Others want to trade, but SARS frustrates them. Migration is a last resort and Buhari insults them! He is out of touch.”
