The National Assembly complex has been layed siege by operatives of Department of State Services, DSS. The stern looking officers who are in their numbers barricate the entrance of the main gate as early as 6:00 am.
Confirming the report, a senator representing Kwara State Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim said that DSS has taken over all the entrance gate that leads to the complex on order from the above.
Condemning the siege, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce who represent Bayelsa State wondered why security agents should be used in a democratic setting to crack down on the opposition, adding that he has contacted the US and UK embassies to revoke the visa of anybody leading the assault on the institution.
Meanwhile the Senator Minority Leader and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District Godswill Apkabio has tendered his resignation letter to the Senate as the senate minority leader.
Akpabio who is believed to have perfected his plans to defect to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, took to his Facebook page to disclose this said that his resignation took effect from August 4, 2018.
He further disclosed that he will be formerly received into the APC at a rally in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
