Troops Avert Attack, Nab Boko Haram Suspect In IDP Camp

Wanted Boko Haram suspect was on Saturday August 4, arrested by the troops of operation Lafiya Dole fighting insurgents in the Northeast after he successfully infiltrated Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp in Borno State.

The suspect, according to a statement signed by army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu, is number 96 on the wanted list of the Nigerian Army.

The statement partly reads, “Troops of operation Lafiya Dole on 4 August 2018 have arrested a wanted Boko Haram suspect, Maje Lawan at Banki in Borno State.

“The suspect believed to be number 96 on the wanted list earlier published by the army was apprehended after he infiltrated into the Internally Displaced Persons camp in the area.

The statement further revealed that investigation has commenced for further action while urging members of the public to be vigilant and report all suspicious movement to the nearest law enforcement agency.

“The suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further action.
