Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor announced his exit from APC to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), today, August 1. He said the activities of his former party is marred with irregularities.
Recall that Tambuwal had in 2015, left the then ruling PDP for APC while as a Speaker House of Representatives. He however, contested for governorship election under the platform of APC and won.

Meanwhile, APC has witnessed mass defections within the last two weeks. No fewer than 15 Senators, 36 House of Representatives members and 3 governors has since resigned from the party.
As the 2019 general elections draws near, it is expected that more defection would be recorded in the coming weeks.
